What was the biggest thing you took away from being selected for the Futures Game?

I actually didn't get to play in the Futures Game, but it was a great honor to be selected to showcase my abilities with some of the best players throughout the minor leagues.

What would you do if you just inherited a pizzeria?

It would be interesting. I'd have to find someone who could take care of it and manage it while I was away. If I was unable to I might just sell it.

What secondary pitches have you been working on in the off-season?

I've mainly focused on long tossing and getting my arm in shape. I'm constantly focusing on my change up grip and making sure I keep the same arm action when I throw it,

What's the best concert you've been to?

This past year down in Florida, Nick Hernandez, Ryan Gugel, Tyson Gillies, Matt Way, and I all attended Darius Rucker, Jason Aldean, Easton Corbin and Dierks Bentley. It was a great atmosphere to be in and the artists were all some of the best country singers around. You can't beat a concert with a great group of friends and a great group of singers.

Do you follow advanced stats at all?

I do not follow advanced stats actually.

What is one of your hidden talents?

I play the saxophone actually which is something that hardly anyone knows. I was all-state in middle school and did not participate in band in high school. I still pick it up on occasion.

Have you made any changes to your mechanics since your elbow injury to assist in your recovery or prevent further injuries?

I have not altered any of my mechanics. I blame the small injuries on just not fully being used to throwing everyday and the grind of a full professional baseball season.

What is your guilty pleasure TV show?

The TV is always on ESPN, so I'd have to say SportsCenter.

What other sport do you wish you could play professionally if not baseball?

I'd love to play in the NBA. I'm a huge basketball fan and play on occasion.

What was the last book you read?

I’m in the process of reading The Mental ABC’s of Baseball for the third time lol.

Who was your favorite team/player growing up?

The St. Louis Cardinals were my favorite team growing up. Most of my dad’s family is from southern Illinois and I was an Albert Pujols fan as a hitter. As a pitcher I was a big Josh Beckett fan.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be, and why?

Super speed.

If you attended a fantasy baseball camp as a fan, which former players would you be most excited to play with?

There's too many to name, but Nolan Ryan, Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Ty Cobb, Greorge Brett, Sandy Koufax, Cy Young to name a few.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

My Kinda Party by Jason Aldean

After your first major league win, what would you want the headline to be in the newspaper the next day?

“Cosart Looks Cozy in his MLB debut”

What’s your go-to dance move?

The Jerk

Is there any particular charity you donate your time/energy/money to? Why?

I donated to Rady's Children’s Hospital in San Diego because I was touched by the little kids fighting the battles of different types of cancer. I played in the Aflac All-American game there when I was a senior in high school. I hope to start my own charity when I establish myself in the big leagues.

Describe yourself in three words

Athletic, ambitious, gentleman

You’ve been rated as the top pitching prospect in the Phillies system. Who is your biggest inspiration as you work towards The Show?

My dad has been my biggest inspiration off of the field because he has taught me so much about how to be successful both on and off the field. On the field all of my coaches and teammates push me everyday to be the best and seeing guys like Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee dominate makes you want to push to pitch alongside the best.

What were you voted “most likely to be” in high school?

I was voted most likely to succeed and most athletic in high school. There was tough competition as I had over 1300 kids in my graduating class so I was honored to receive both. Pin It Now!
