Official Baseball Ladies Championship Series Predictions!

Originally posted by Chicks Dig the Long Ball.

With the ALCS game between the Yankees and the Rangers about to begin here shortly, it’s time to look at the Official Baseball Lady Predictions for the Championship series. But first, let’s take a look at how we did at eyeballing the Divisional Series that recently came to a close. Here were our individual and collective predictions:

Official Baseball Ladies Predictions: Phillies in four, Giants in four, Twins in five, Rays in four.
The final (actual) results? Phillies in three (correctly predicted by Angela, Kelly and Janet), Giants in four (Meghan, Kim, Angela, Kelly, Janet and myself), Yankees in three (none of us thought that would happen, and face it, neither did any of you), and Rangers in 5 (just me). So overall as a group we were pretty good at analyzing the National League and completely tanked the AL. Angela, Kelly, Janet & myself slide into the lead with two correct predictions each while Liz, Natalie, Deanna and Cyn have a lower batting average than Greg Dobbs at 0.000.
What did we pick for the Championship Series? Well, it's just as biased as last time, with every last one of us leaning Phillies (but really, how can we not?) and a handful of ladies picking the Yankees to show the Rangers who's boss. Here's the breakdown:
The Official Baseball Lady Prediction: Phillies in five and Rangers in six.
The Phillies are steamrolling into the NLCS with the best record in baseball, their first post-season sweep in franchise history, and a rotation of Halladay, Hamels, Oswalt under their belts. The Giants have Lincecum, against whom the Phillies haven't exactly struggled, but haven't excelled against, either, Matt Cain, who's numbers versus the Phils aren't as impressive (likely why he's slated to start game three), and Jonathan Sanchez who will probably be the most difficult Giants pitcher to overcome in the series (yes, even more than The Freak). San Francisco also has Pat Burrell, who hits a home run every time the fans at Citizens Bank Park cheer for him. So, as long as you people can keep your rally towels at your sides for the two minutes he takes in the batters box, the Phillies should be able to waltz into the World Series with their heads held high after a much fairer battle than they had against Cincinnati.

The Rangers may have Cliff Lee, but the Yankees won't get their hands on him until game three since he pitched on Tuesday in game five of the ALCS matchup against the Rays. Sabathia, Hughes and Pettitte will take care of business as usual, leaving the possibility of having to run AJ Burnett out there for a game four to be determined. While the Yankees have turned on their October swagger, the Rangers are still marching along and not looking back. They've become a team of castaways, have a shiny new owner, their manager has come under fire for drug use, and still they've overcome the odds and are ready to aim and fire at any team that stands in the way of their first World Championship in franchise history. Still, no matter what team the Phillies wind up facing in the World Series (yes, we're this certain of it), they will be bringing three aces to the table and maybe a Joe Blanton who has as much post season experience as the rest of them at this point (Pettitte being the exception, but he's older, is coming off a groin injury, and it's about to get pretty cold in NYC). It almost doesn't even matter what other team makes an appearance in the biggest show of the year - they have to face the Phillies.

The ALCS begins tonight on TBS at 8:00 PM ET with CC Sabathia taking the hill against CJ Wilson. Make sure to keep up to date with all our post-season coverage by bookmarking our Championship Series Guide. Pin It Now!
